ĐBP - With the theme “Proud of tradition - Striding into the future,” the 2025 “Storytelling from Books” competition, held in late October, featured stories told with the innocence, clarity, and rich creativity of students, bringing to life the memories of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory and the heroic tradition of Điện Biên’s army and people. The competition contributed to educating, spreading tradition, and fostering patriotism in the young generation.

ĐBP - In recent times, many schools in the province have flexibly and vividly integrated local cultural, historical, and traditional values, customs, and practices into their teaching content. This helps students better understand their roots and national identity, contributing to fostering pride, and the awareness of preserving and promoting good traditional values. This allows culture to “live” in every lesson, to be preserved in daily actions and words, and to spread, becoming a beautiful feature of the school environment.

ĐBP - In recent times, along with historical tourism, Điện Biên province has promoted tourism development linked with nature conservation and indigenous culture. Many models of community tourism, eco-tourism, and agro-tourism in an environmentally friendly direction are being implemented, both attracting tourists and creating livelihoods for local people.

ĐBP - On the afternoon of November 5, Nậm Kè commune organized the traditional Cockscomb Flower Festival of the Cống ethnic group in Nậm Kè village.

ĐBP - A concrete road stretching over ten kilometers, like a soft ribbon draped over the mountainsides, took us from the center of Nậm Kè commune to Huổi Thanh 1 village. Tucked away in the great forest, Huổi Thanh 1 is like a “raw gem,” with majestic natural scenery and the rich, pristine cultural identity of the Sán Chỉ ethnic people waiting to be polished.

ĐBP - It’s a weekend morning, yet the courtyard of Thanh Nưa Secondary School is livelier than ever. Laughter fills the air as students eagerly raise their hands to answer quiz questions for prizes. In another corner, groups of children gather around artisans, watching them weave fabric and embroider decorative patterns. Others stand before exhibition boards, animatedly discussing the displayed photos. The atmosphere becomes even more festive when traditional folk games kick off.

ĐBP - During the high water season of the Sơn La hydropower reservoir, the Pa Phông Bay (Tủa Thàng commune, Điện Biên province) is as beautiful as a pristine, lively, and romantic watercolor painting.

ĐBP - In late October, the main square in Zhengdong town, Jiangcheng county, Pu’er city, Yunnan province (China), was alive with vibrant colors. Looms and textiles from Vietnam, Laos, and China resonated together in a shared melody of friendship and cooperation.

ĐBP - Surpassing dozens of international teams from Laos and China, the Lao brocade weaving artisans from Núa Ngam commune, Điện Biên province, excellently won Second Prize at the 2025 “Pu’er - Creativity and Success” Ethnic Traditional Brocade Weaving Skills Competition.

ĐBP - The coffee festival linked with eco-tourism, held at Đào viên sơn in Búng Lao commune, attracted a large number of residents and tourists to participate in competitions and experiences.

ĐBP - Clearly recognizing the key role of the next generation in meeting ever-higher demands, the provincial Ethnic Arts Troupe has been dedicating much effort and enthusiasm to finding solutions to “rejuvenate” its team of dance artists. However, caught between a shortage of young talent and the specific difficulties of a mountainous province still facing many challenges, the Troupe’s rejuvenation problem is confronting many obstacles.

However, the challenge now is how to develop tourism sustainably and systematically, awakening the potential of this land throughout all four seasons of the year.

ĐBP - Along the roads leading into the villages of the Thái people, it is not difficult to see bundles of rattan, nứa (a type of small bamboo), and bamboo leaning against the verandas of houses. For generations, the craft of rattan and bamboo weaving has been closely linked to the cultural life and livelihood of the Thái people. And now, that pride is multiplied as the rattan and bamboo weaving technique of the Thái people in Điện Biên province has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.

ĐBP - In the current economic landscape, agritourism is emerging as a promising direction that not only promotes tourism growth but also drives agricultural production and improves farmers’ livelihoods. By allowing visitors to experience farming, explore rural life, and engage directly in agricultural activities, this model creates opportunities for cultural exchange, product promotion, and sustainable development.

ĐBP- In an era when digital transformation has become an inevitable trend across all aspects of life, from production and business to public administration and social activities, Điện Biên province is embracing the shift in the cultural sector as both an urgent necessity and a pioneering step. By harnessing modern technology, the province is preserving and promoting its cultural values while turning traditional heritage into a vibrant resource for contemporary life.

ĐBP - In recent years, community-based tourism, where visitors live, eat, and engage in daily activities with local residents to experience their traditional culture, has become increasingly popular. Seizing this trend, many households and individuals across the province have boldly invested in developing homestay tourism. This model not only enriches the province’s tourism products but also creates economic opportunities and improves incomes for local people.

ĐBP - The Thái ethnic group is one of the few in Vietnam that still preserves its own language and script. This language and writing system are not only used in daily communication but also reflect the cultural life, history, and customs formed and crystallized over generations.

ĐBP - In recent years, our province has paid attention to encouraging and supporting People’s Artisans and Distinguished Artisans, while preserving and promoting the values of cultural heritage. However, the implementation of policies for artisans and cultural heritage bearers still faces many difficulties and shortcomings that need to be addressed.

ĐBP - Leveraging its tourism potential, Điện Biên province has in recent years paid special attention to promotion and marketing, organizing a series of large-scale activities with regional and national reach. Yet to truly become the “heart of the Northwest” and an attractive tourism hub, Điện Biên needs not only policy direction from authorities but also active participation from businesses and local communities.
